Not every battle is worth fighting
There was a time when I felt like I had to explain myself to everyone.
If someone misunderstood me, I wanted to clear it up. If someone talked about me, I wanted to defend myself. If there was drama, I felt like I needed to fix it.
The older I have gotten, the more I have realized that not every misunderstanding needs an explanation, and not every opinion deserves my energy.
People are going to make assumptions. Some will only know one side of the story. Others will believe whatever they are told because it is easier than asking questions. And TBH? That is out of my control.
What IS in my control, is how I respond and how much energy I choose to give someone.
I have learned that protecting my peace is more valuable than winning an argument. Sometimes the best response is choosing not to react at all.
It is not always easy.
There are days when I still want to defend myself or prove a point. But the people who truly know me do not need an explantation, and the people determined to misunderstand me probably will never change their minds.
I have also learned that drama has a way of revealing people. It shows who enjoys conflict, who thrives on gossip, and who stands by you without needing every detail.
I have started paying more attention to those types of people.
Life already comes with enough challenges. I do not want to spend my life carrying negativity that does not belong to me.
I am still leaning and I am not perfect. I know I will have moment when I react emotionally. But it comes with my growth.
Growing up is not about avoiding drama at all costs, but it is about recognizing when something deserves your attention and when something deserves your silence.
At the end it is about choosing yourself, deciding what gets your energy, and choosing peace.
